The students have enjoyed our study of electricity so far. So far we have been learning about what electricty is and how it is measured. Now we will spend a few weeks learning about magnetism and how electricity and magnetism are related.

In the coming weeks we are shifting our focus from Latin America to Europe and Russia. We will begin by studying the basic physical geography and history of the area followed by the major cultures of Europe and Russia.

We are still learning about waves in science this month. The first few weeks we are thinking about sound as a wave: How does it travel and interact? Following that we will be learning about light waves and the electromagnetic wave spectrum. This invloves visible light, radio waves, and x-rays.

6th Grade Social Studies

In October we are going to be learning about the basic geography of the Earth. This includes more than just what the Earth looks like. We will also focus on a lot of why questions. Why do different places have certain climates, why do people live in one place and not another, or why do people living in different places have different beliefs and cultures?

6th Grade Science

The students really enjoyed learning about the scientific process in the past month. I think it was because we performed a lot of experiments that led us through the process.

In the next month we are going to learn about motion, forces and energy. Already we have begun to think about the way things move and how we compare movement. As we continue we will focus more on different kinds of motion, forces and energy.
