In math we have been going to our fact groups. They are addition, subtraction, and multiplication. In them we take mad minute. We study facts too. In the back room is multiplication with Mr. Kooiker. In our room is subtraction. In the room next to us is addition with Miss VanArkel. Friday was the last day of fact group. We took a quiz to see what groups we will be in for the next unit.

Reading Blog Report
By: Kiley
During D.E.A.R. time, we drop everything and read.We read for about 15 minutes after lunch. If we make a noise, we sometimes get in trouble and need to read at our seat. We get to read where ever we want. Most people are very quiet. If there are things that are important in a book we can put sticky notes on the pages to help us remember.
In reading groups, we read and write questions, retells, make connections and write tricky words. There are about 5 different reading groups. We do reading groups after last recess until the end of the day.

Writer’s Workshop Blog Report

Last week in writing we wrote in our composition books and published our stories. It’s so much fun! Some people wrote about happy things, sad things, and even scary things. If we’re stuck we can write about a person, place or thing that matters to us. It has to be true. Mrs. McDonald makes us go back and check for periods, capital letters, paragraphs, and spelling. You have try not to use a word more than twice like the word, “said” or “then.” If we do, we use the Thesaurus for help. When everyone turns in their published piece, we have a celebration.
