They're everywhere!

The 8th graders discovered that once they became aware of them, metaphors and similes are all around us! They are receiving extra credit for every simile and metaphor they read or hear and bring to the class. Following are several that we have found in the past few weeks.


Old Godzilla was hangin' around / Tokyo City like a big playground. --"The Ultimate Showdown" Lance

Women were created to be like flowers, bringing color and beauty to the world. --Just Ella Lyndsey

His eyes are black like a doll's eyes. --Jaws Jarrett

Her control broke like a tree limb under too much weight, and the snap made her cry out. --Enna Burning Alyssa

He was like a star baseball player leaving the field. --Sideways Stories From Wayside School Dan
