In 8th language arts we have been reading and discussing the book The Ultimate Gift. Together we have discovered that God has given us an abundance of gifts, even in things we don't always view as being gifts. These include the gift of laughter, gratitude, money, problems, and a day.
We have learned some cool new vocabulary words ( do you know what illustrious, perfunctory, and summarily mean?), discussed how God has blessed us, and talked about various literary aspects of the story, such as the author's style and how the minor characters contribute. Our next unit will begin soon; we will be studying horror stories from a unit in our literature book. This includes a look at a few Edgar Allen Poe stories, an exciting adventure for 8th graders!!
