We planted 100 red tulips around the war memorial in the school's front yard. We are taking part in a scientific study that will track the arrival of spring as the tulips begin to emerge. Of course we had to be careful observers and weigh and measure them before planting. We even dissected some bulbs. We were surprised by how much like an onion they were. There was a small seed-like structure inside that we are wondering about. Later this winter we'll force some to bloom so we can dissect them again and have a look inside .

I think this is a wonderful project that each of you are a part of! It will be so exciting to see the beautiful tulips in the Spring and we all will have to thank the 3rd graders for your hard work! I hope you had a lot of fun!
Thanks,
Mrs. Maxwell
