As you already know, our Georgetown students are traveling to China with our Reading Counts program. Over 180 students have already made it by reaching 100% of their reading goal. There is about 1 1/2 weeks left for the rest to reach their goals.
What you probably don't know, is that February 7 was the start of the Chinese New Year. To celebrate this holiday, each student that had already reached their goal was entered into a raffle. One name from each grade was chosen. The winners were: 2nd grade-Madison DeKorte, 3rd grade-Jack Mandryk, 4th grade-Jacob Beer, 5th grade-Derek Mol. Their prize was a delicious Chinese lunch with Mrs. Reagan. There was also a surprise visit from our new highschool Chinese Language teacher Miss. Chen. She was able to show them the correct way to use chop stix!
This was just another fun way to encourage reading!!! Stay tuned for a VERY FUN Reading Counts party coming on March 14. The end of this marking period is February 20.
